Tesla finally unveiled their EV track called Semi, but the most unsuspected thing was that straight after presentation Elon Musk rolled out from behind the scenes new car — Tesla Roadster.
Note that this is the second car from Tesla with the same name; the first model was produced in 2008 – 2012. This car reminds us British Lotus Elise but with electric motors.
The Roadster was built on the new platform with 3 EV motors, 1 in the front and 2 in the rear. Tesla didn’t tell us the power of the vehicle; however, the torque could reach up to 10 000 nm! It’s not a misspelling.
Dynamic characteristics are also impressive, Elon Musk assures us that his creature could overrun any car! Tesla Roadster accelerates from 0 to 96 km/h (60 mph) for 1,9 seconds, 160 km/h — 4,2 seconds. The maximal speed this EV supercar could reach is 400 km/h. Quarter mile Roadster could drive only for 8,8 seconds what is way faster than previous leader Dodge Challenger Demon (9,6 seconds). Actually this crazy dynamic could compete only with race cars from the Formula-1 or Japanese supercar Aspark Owl which produce only in single copies.
The sports car could contain 4 people. The car has a Targa chassis which mean that only central roof panel could be removed.
Power reserve is also impressive; Tesla Roadster could drive on a single charge 1000 kilometers (620 miles).
Value of the car is $200 000; however, first 1000 models are going to be exclusive versions, called Founder’s Series and the price will be higher on $50 000.
